Happy Thanksgiving!

There are many things for me to be thankful for this year.  I have a very happy marriage, I have a pretty good job (for which I am respected) in a stable field, a wonderful boss whom I get along with very well, my sisters and their families and my mother and father all live within a 10 minute drive from me, I love my home and my cats, everyone in my immediate family is more or less healthy, I have a few very good friends that I care deeply for, even if I don’t see them often.  I am grateful for my beautiful niece and three wonderful nephews.  On top of all of this, my dream of becoming a professional audiobook narrator is coming true.  What more could I ask for??

Well, that’s simple.  I could ask that everyone in the world would have as many things to be grateful for as I do. I could ask that nobody in this world ever has to go to bed hungry, cold or scared. I could ask that nobody would ever have to choose between spending their last dollar on medicine or a meal.  I could ask that people all over the world, no matter what (if any) faith they follow, would be able to get along peaceably with their neighbors. I could ask that no child ever has to fear violence or violation, no woman has to worry about walking alone at night.

I do ask for these things.  Often, not just on Thanksgiving.  I will continue to ask for these things, and more besides.  I am grateful for the ability to do so, and to actually help when I can.

May your list of things to be grateful for be long.  Happy Thanksgiving.
